What a fantastic article and great images but what an atrocious situation for people to live in. Yet, the place is full of life and community. What would Pauline think of that?
She’d probably blame migrant workers for “turning an Australian town into an Asian slum” and use it as evidence to support her anti-immigration rhetoric.
Perhaps, or perhaps she would come up against a community whose people stand up for each other and whose work keeps the country fed despite terrible conditions and who don’t ‘bludge’ on the welfare system. I am not cranky with you, just with the thought that someone could come up with the conclusion you describe.
