Tired of hearing truckies play victim constantly

  1. They set their contracts. Nobody else. It’s not the governments fault. A lot of them signed stupid contracts to profit. And failed.
  2. There are sections of the truckie community who are hugely toxic and racist
  3. I’ve seen a truckie out there telling others they shouldn’t pull over because truckies might fall asleep if they can’t.
  4. A lot of truckies are the ones who are fighting back against EVs. Yep, the exact same dickheads who are complaining about diesel costs or diesel running out don’t want alternatives. If you check my history, I’m literally arguing against one who repeats so many lies to defend diesel trucks
  5. A lot of them were demanding that unless tax payers give them money, they were planning to strike, have a hissy fit and block all the roads with their trucks. Basically, f*ing blackmail
  6. I know a hiker, who was passed by a truck, and the truckie was saying the next truck should run them off the road. Yeah, that’s hilarious

The industry needs a huge reset, and a huge crackdown in my opinion.

The most vocal ones have been blaming everyone their whole lives. It’s time to stop listening . Some of them are legends but some of them should lose their jobs

Without truckies, Australia will keep moving, because it’s a low skilled job . Maybe they should read the contracts they’re signing and start investigating EVs instead of pretending they are driving for 14 hours without stopping

All that being said, their career is to drive big trucks for large companies - they’re not exactly known for their honed intellectual discourse or exceptional decision-making skills.

I’m not saying they don’t have value - just that their opinions on immigration and renewable energy aren’t ones anybody should take seriously.

Some of them are genuinely good people though, who, I didn’t even realise were truckies when I meet them.

it definitely isn’t the governments fault though that some of them decided to sign contracts that didn’t take the cost of fuel into consideration. They got greedy, like the people who relied on tax dodginess, and have now been recently caught out.

Yeah for sure, I’m not trying to diminish the individuals who can be whole-hearted and warm people.

Just as a group, their opinions on EVs don’t come from a place of education, just feelings; and the vile/hateful/racist ones just aren’t worth knowing or taking seriously.
