There are no good guys in this story (fed Labor vs QLD LNP)
The NDIS seems like a joke. When will we learn that privatisated contracting out of public services is stupid?
Fed Labor: “Let’s just cut the funding, that’s a good trick!”
Apparently not for some time yet.
The privatised contracting part actually works well.
Providers have to compete upwards with quality to clients to keep getting them. It also offers choice to the disabled as to who provides the care they need.
This is coming from someone who has administered a plan for seven years. If you want confirmation on this ask disability advocates. This is why the amendments and the cuts they bring are so opposed within the disability community and their advocacy. We certainly don’t want a return to abusive church and government institutionalised systems, where no incentive at all existed to offer the ekevated care needed.
As I’ve seen put by a mother and carer who gave up her career as a lawyer and now advocates on sicial networks, ‘we’re finding out the true cost of giving dignity to the disabled and learning what costs have been borne by careers since forever’. And now, given we lose the ability to continue our careers, the loss of super.
Anyway, the problem isn’t the private providers and what was a problem there has been addressed.
