The big Remaster update is here, and any owner of the base game get it for free. Sony and Nintendo would have charged us 10 Dollars / Euros for an upgrade; at the very minimum. However I have a question here: In a previous announcement for this update, they said the DLCs will be free of charge for the owner of base game too. That didn’t happen yet. Does anyone have information about this?
I set up a public game night for a non profit organization. The event space has a bar on one side and Pizza and snacks are available. All ages are welcome as the bar side is segregated from where the gaming area is. We posted it in some FB local groups and I found some local subreddits and discord servers. I even made an Instagram account but it flagged my flyer as spam. It’s a smallish town with about 14k people but near a much bigger college town by about 30 minutes. I’m at a loss as what to do since I’m going to give it a go this week too. We discussed having a vintage video game competition such as an old arcade game. Am I missing something or are game nights just not that popular?
I’m currently watching a Marvel Wolverine review bash video, as this is the cool thing to do right now. I don’t even own a Playstation 5. Why do I watch that video? Well first its a creator I like to watch and scondly, I am fascinated by the topic of not liking AAA games. Sometimes games aren’t bad, if the price is good. So the game isn’t actually that bad if you wait for a sale? Usually ratings are tied to the price of the game, and sometimes not.

This is my theory. Game movies are currently big. And an action film in a setting like GTA seems to be what films are about anyway, so it would fit well, wouldn’t it? I have this in my back since a while and nobody is talking about this. Now with the Netflix deal, it looks even more like it could happen.
This game was a missed opportunity in my opinion. It’s such a cool setting and I can’t believe something like Far Cry with it’s infinite radio towers and forests hasn’t even managed to sell a forest area this well as Firewatch does in only a few hours. The map is small so you get quickly familiar with the few choice routes you like to take and the in-game map which is a real map that the character holds instead of a HUD element feels really intimate and useful.
I am thrilled to announce that the action platformer Amata will be releasing on the 20th of August 2026! This news comes with the final feature update for the main campaign before release <3. This patch contains all the planned content for the final release, though I’ll continue working on translations and any bugs that come up!

121 countries are unable to make PSN accounts, which means that they are unable to use the PlayStation Store. In a digital-exclusive future—which looks likely for the PS6 after Sony announced plans to cease production of game discs in 2028—that means everyone in those countries will be locked out from purchasing titles on the platform.

Built a userscript that checks the publisher on Steam and GOG game pages against the Stop Killing Games Dead Game List. If the publisher has shut down always-online titles before, you get an amber banner with the reason.
It looks like the PS6 could cost more than 1k Dollars, if it would launch next year. And maybe even more expensive if the prices go even up. So I had an idea for Sony:

Like a cult classic movie, Godot 4 has only gotten better with age. The first few releases focused on stability, granting the engine a rock-solid foundation that could be safely and easily iterated upon. Gradually, this has shifted more towards polish and quality-of-life, peaking in Godot 4.6 giving developers the tools to put them and their workflow first.
I’m on a committee for a non-profit and put this sheet together just to show people what costs would be for various gaming setups. The goal is to build a gaming community and eventually have big tournaments and possibly fundraising events.
This is for developers mostly. I don’t want to spoil much, the Open Source alternative Godot seems to beat Unity in a spectacular way, at least looking at the performance differences (for development and ingame). I hope this community is the right place to share this video.
It is perhaps not surprising that the price of the Steam Deck has gone up, given the state of everything, but even so, just how far it’s jumped is straight-up shocking. The 512GB OLED model has gone from $549 to $789, and the 1TB unit has leapt from $649 to $949, an increase of nearly 50%.
Are there any good old-school first person shooter games still active? Halo Infinite is fun but Microsoft’s crap is frustrating. I miss Wolfenstein Enemy Territory from back in the day. Halo Custom Edition was awesome, too.
ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is proving to be fun but somehow raises the question of “what the fuck is going on and why do I vibe with it?” even more than previous Grasshopper games. Why does the FBI have a space time division that flies about in a time travelling spaceship with a massive wave motion gun on the front? Why has your family come along for the ride? Why do zombies grow from seeds on a farm? Why is your grandpa embroidery now? Why is a senior FBI agent a cat? Who is storing their spices in meteorites? Is the screen currently black because of a bug or is it an artistic decision? (It was a bug)
The biggest question it raises for me though is why there seems to be a generation of Japanese game developers obsessed with videogames as a medium - whether it’s switching controller ports in a fight, changing gameplay to a text adventure for dream sequences, or the main character fast forwarding through the villainous monologue, there’s a self awareness to their games I don’t see elsewhere. They don’t just give a nod and a wink to the 4th wall, they aggressively try to pull the player through it to interact even more directly with the gameplay and story. What happened to make them like this? Is it some part of their cultural experience or a formative piece of media? Or are they just a set of weirdos that coincidentally happened to be born relatively nearby?
If I want to buy Subnautica 2. Does the money go to the developers, which I’m cool with, or… does it go to Krafton, which I dislike due to them being assholes towards the Subnautica developers.
I’ve been playing Assassins Creed Valhalla lately just to chill and watch that map fill out. I also ate out at Olive Garden with my mom and brother a couple days ago.
Civilization VII is set for a major update that finally let players stay as one civ through all Ages, as the boss of parent company Take-Two has admitted: “we got it wrong.”
I love nothing more than hazardous weather in video games, the long dark is pretty good with its intense blizzards that you can get lost and die in minutes, I also love no man’s sky. The whole building a base in an extremely hostile environment that if you step outside for too long you’re a goner.
Like, games that you have played through multiple times, but you still like to replay them from time to time because you can just relax and have a good time without too much hassle.
It’s pretty short at around 4-5 hours. I found the gameplay was excellent. I found difficulty was just right. It never got too frustrating, but I always felt challenged. It never got boring, and it was really fun to see how the environment kept changing as the game progressed. It also does a really good job of doing story telling through gameplay. I find a lot of games tend to have a game portion and a story portion. Here, they managed to blend both story telling and the game completely seamlessly. Highly recommend if you enjoy this genre of a game.
