Are you telling me wine is not emulation?

It IS an emulation. Wine only allows us to run windows applications not windows itself

Wrong

btw the joke is that Wine literally stands for “Wine Is Not an Emulator”

https://www.winehq.org/

That’s hilarious, I couldn’t have been more obviously wrong

That’s not what emulation is. Emulators imitate hardware. WINE receives Windows system cells and returns the appropriate responses.

My fault, I genuinely thought wine was an imitation. Honestly I don’t use it much

It’s okay, Comrade Sharkfucker

So it emulates system calls?

No, it translates system calls. Very different.

Ew no what the fuck why would I want Teams to run in my brain it’s bad enough on a Windows desktop.

It is by Wine alone I set my .exe’s in motion

It is by prefix creation that DLLs acquire form

The registry acquires keys

The keys hopefully don’t cause warnings

It is by Wine alone I set my .exe’s in motion

in their mind

Fake. Most windows applications are not open source.

Literally the only reason I keep a Windows machine around is to run proprietary software that I simply can’t replace, like games and software suites for specific hardware.

Thanks to WINE/Proton, I can’t even remember the last time I turned on that Windows machine. I think it might’ve been years. I should probably turn it on just to cycle the battery (notebook) a little and run updates.

How else would you even do it?

How come there’s no peach wine?
