TIL at least one German computer magazine still ships cover discs.

I just did exactly that. It is my third try but this one is the easiest. Linux has evolved a lot since my last try (my printer just works! Out of the box, no issues). Windows was never perfect but this time it’s clear they are making things worse on purpose.

Hopefully I will stay for good this time.

Ha, I’m going to test my dad’s printer in Linux Mint this weekend, because I plan to migrate him from Windows 10. I remember printers on Linux used to be a PITA ~20 years ago, but I also read somewhere that (some?) printers now work driverless (no idea how that works), so we’ll see.

I can confirm, for me an old Brother laser printer works with no additional drivers needed. Many other things work surprisingly well. I also switched to Mint and the transition was so easy that my geek side was actually disappointed (nothing to tinker with!)

Judging by the look of it I would have thought that magazine was from 2006 ;) Bit it says 2026 in the corner. Maybe it is that I haven’t seen a hard copy of these in a fair while.

That said, any year is a good year to make it your personal year of the Linux desktop.

Please do not post links to vger.to, they do not link to media properly

I didn’t… what? What’s vger.to?

Nevermind then, my app is broken

Voyager turns every link into a vger.to link.
