Took this at the old fishing boat wreck at Corpach, near Fort William, crouched low by the bow. I liked it at the time but it never quite worked, and it took a critique to show me why.
I wanted to take a picture that you can smell, that you can hear, that you can anticipate the movement in, like it should just snap into motion at any time.
Are these trees spooky enough for spooky season? They do look a bit like they might grab you if you get close enough 😁

As my mom ages, I’m coming into possession of more and more photography hand-me-downs. This is a PB 20 Readyset by a company called Agfa, and it’s a hand-held portable camera complete with a bellows.

A great mother. Can you imagine carrying around a few dozen babies until they are big enough to take care of themselves? This Rabida Rabidosa has lost a leg and a pedipalp.
I can remember visiting my grandparents. A dike across the road was barely holding back the water, lapping at the bike path above. Going to bed, I wondered what would happen should those three meters of heaped earth give way. I would surely drown.
Slightly used bicycle for sale 😜 At some point someone leaned this bicycle against this tree on a forest road. I wonder if they knew it was the last time it would ever be uses? 🤔

This was on the branch next to the last one I posted - it’s in that shot but behind leaves. I was able to get fairly close without spooking them (this pic is uncropped).
Went for a walk through one of our local parklands and took a bunch of pics, and snapped this one on the way back to the car. I was going to crop it in a bit but actually like the framing of the leaves.
I call this: "Tiny mushroom is tiny."
I'd guesstimate it was about a third of the nail on you little finger 😁

There’s a sunset every day, for everyone, and anyone can see it just by going outside on a clear day and having a look. That means that while sunsets are beautiful, pictures of the sky are also largely worthless cause they can be had by anyone with a cellphone.
An old photo I found in my archive from when I used to own a cheap macro lens. I really enjoyed trying to take close-up shots of tiny insects, but it was very difficult to get anything in focus. The smallest gust of wind would bring the whole thing out of focus again.
Eventually I sold that lens together with the rest of my old camera (it was just too bulky).
Sometimes I’m not sure. Sometimes I feel less confident in my work, that I feel things aren’t quite up to par. Lately, that’s been the reason I haven’t been posting new art but for sporadically. I’m dissatisfied with my concert photography, and I’m dissatisfied with my urban photography. I think I’m in a slump.
I call these "It's my Island, I'll flower if I want to" from my wildflowers on tiny islands series 😁

I just got new glasses, after an appointment featuring my optometrist telling me “I warned you you were getting older.” The bifocal script isn’t strong, but it’s there!
I’ve not really “got” what people mean when they talk about the bokeh on some vintage lenses before. But with this I see it. Full of character, without being messy.
I tend to shoot a lot and not review my photos a lot, but it was recently brought to my attention that my pictures are really dark. I tend to operate in P mode most of the time when I’m doing snapshots and just adjusting EV if I have a particularly bright/dark subject.
