I Finally Built It: Bookpile (bitboxer.de)

The idea is simple. You enter an ISBN and Bookpile shows you nearby independent bookshops, libraries, and book-tracking sites. It deliberately puts small, independent bookstores front and centre. No affiliate links, no cookies, no tracking — just books and the people who love selling or lending them.

Edit: managed to boot by reinstalling grub, reinstalling the kernel (latest) with Artix’ own basestrap script and then updating grub from a live USB. System saved. Now it won’t accept a new IP from my dhcp server but that’s tomorrow’s problem. Thank you all for your quick respones! 🥰

A star-history.com alternative after it was killed by Github (star-history.dera.page)

If you maintain or use open-source projects on GitHub, you might have noticed that embedded star history charts (api.star-history.com) in README.md files broke recently. That’s because Github killed the API they relied on, citing high costs because people used it a lot. Well done microslop (they even broke their own UI because they forgot to update their frontend).

Textures do not load when running Spider-Man 2 with Proton

Community iconc/linux_gaming@lemmy.world by

Aside from audio issues, the initial cutscene played fine, if a bit laggy on my laptop. When loaded into the game, it appears that all the textures are missing, and although the game is functionally fine (you can swing, collide with objects, hear dialogue, etc.), it’s pretty unplayable as you can’t see anything that isn’t next to a bright light source. It looked pretty cool though, but definitely not what I want to enjoy the game (by the way, when on Earth did games exceed 100GB? That’s mad!)

Just now dropped my account, or at least the best I can do so, since there isn’t a cancel button. For many years, I never had to pay anything because I paid for it with my VPN/seedbox setup. Seeded that shit for 20 years. Some people donate, some people ratio. I’m fine with that.

[AIP] Fathom v0.11.0: now on Android and Android TV (experimental), plus many more updates! (github.com)

Fathom is an all-in-one client for Jellyfin, on Linux, Windows, and now Android. It brings movies, shows, music, and Live TV into one window, with most of Jellyfin’s server-side management built in, plus optional Seerr requests and a full YouTube client. Everything plays through mpv (via media_kit), so you get direct play, hardware decoding, and real subtitle and audio track control. Free and open source (AGPL-3.0).

Anyone using *Canvas Blocker* add-on?

Community iconc/firefox@lemmy.ml by
stravanasu@lemmy.ca

Some preliminary context: Since one or two updates ago, I’ve noticed that Firefox is using around 10% CPU even then all tabs are unloaded. This didn’t happen before. The add-ons I use are still the same, and I have blocked the new LLM functionality. (Maybe someone else noticed the same?) Anyway, in order to investigate, I’m switching off the add-ons one by one, as usually done, checking if the situation improves.

An animated sequence of a close up photos of a woman, with dark hair, showing her various facial expressions and emotions.

I once went out with a woman, it was in Berlin, mid-2010s. She worked in banking, and perhaps we didnt have so much in common to talk about. But I had my camera with me, and I could at least fill some time by using it, and perhaps also hiding behind it. I think, as a sequence of photos, these work okay. This is a gif-file so you are supposed to see an animated sequence of 15 images, if everything works okay... #nikonfm2 #nikon #analogphotography #blackandwhitephotography #35mm #filmisnotdead #filmphotography #gif #xtol #kodaktrix #aristapremium #berlin @photography@lemmy.world
