Install Steam on an arch-based distro with "picky" nvidia drivers

This isn’t a guide, just something i think may help. To install Steam on an Arch-based distro in most of the cases a simple sudo pacman -S steam will do just fine.

The coordinated effort worked. When lawmakers finalized Colorado SB26-051, they added Section 6-30-105(e) to the text. This specific clause waives compliance for operating systems and applications distributed under licenses that allow copying, modifying, and redistributing without platform-imposed technical restrictions. Why the Section 6-30-105(e) Exemption Protects Decentralized Tech

A developer going by “EVVIE” managed to combine the worlds of Linux and Minecraft, to enable you to pull up all sorts of Linux desktop windows directly inside Minecraft. Sure does look cool, a bit like running a desktop inside a VR headset like the draft code for the full VR mode for KDE Plasma written about here before on GamingOnLinux.

Community iconc/linux@lemmy.ml by

The continued flood of AI reports has basically made the security list almost entirely unmanageable, with enormous duplication due to different people finding the same things with the same tools. People spend all their time just forwarding things to the right people or saying “that was already fixed a week/month ago” and pointing to the public discussion.

The future of AI in Ubuntu [Except it's Blockchains instead of AI]

Community iconc/linux@programming.dev by
brianpeiris@lemmy.ca

The future of AI in Ubuntu [Except it's Blockchains instead of AI]. Apr 27. As 2026 progresses, Blockchain-based tools are becoming more and more ubiquitous. Adoption across the tech industry has been mixed, both in terms of which projects are embracing “Blockchain” technologies, and in how companies are structuring their adoption. As a result, I’m frequently asked about what Canonical and Ubuntu will do (or not) to incorporate Blockchains. In this post I’ll detail how Blockchains will play a part in both Canonical and Ubuntu’s future, my framework for classifying Blockchain features in the OS, and how Canonical is currently approaching adoption internally, because I think that will help paint a picture of our intent. The bottom line is that Canonical is ramping up its use of Blockchain tools in a focused and principled manner that favours open blockchains with license terms that feel most compatible with our values, combined with open source contracts. Blockchain features will be landing in Ubuntu throughout the next year as we feel that they’re of sufficient maturity and quality, with a bias toward private blockchains by default. Blockchain features in Ubuntu features will come in two forms: first as a means of enhancing existing OS functionality with blockchains in the background, and latterly in the form of “Blockchain native” features and workflows for those who want them.

I think one helpful trick when thinking about AI hype is to replace mentions of “AI” with “Blockchain” to see how silly it all sounds.

One of the central problems facing Jews globally is the deliberate conflation of Jewish identity with the actions of the Israeli state. Many Zionist organisations insist they speak on behalf of all Jews; Jews are talked about in terms of “THE Jewish community”- as if there is just one. Israel formally defines itself as “the Jewish State”.

ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is proving to be fun but somehow raises the question of “what the fuck is going on and why do I vibe with it?” even more than previous Grasshopper games. Why does the FBI have a space time division that flies about in a time travelling spaceship with a massive wave motion gun on the front? Why has your family come along for the ride? Why do zombies grow from seeds on a farm? Why is your grandpa embroidery now? Why is a senior FBI agent a cat? Who is storing their spices in meteorites? Is the screen currently black because of a bug or is it an artistic decision? (It was a bug) The biggest question it raises for me though is why there seems to be a generation of Japanese game developers obsessed with videogames as a medium - whether it’s switching controller ports in a fight, changing gameplay to a text adventure for dream sequences, or the main character fast forwarding through the villainous monologue, there’s a self awareness to their games I don’t see elsewhere. They don’t just give a nod and a wink to the 4th wall, they aggressively try to pull the player through it to interact even more directly with the gameplay and story. What happened to make them like this? Is it some part of their cultural experience or a formative piece of media? Or are they just a set of weirdos that coincidentally happened to be born relatively nearby?

they list the compatible phones but the one i intend to get has at least 3 or 4 different configurations, ranging from 4-8GB RAM. and now i wonder if that’s going to influence the performance? i mean sure it does at some point but i am talking about the baseline performance not the one with a dozen apps running. https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_9_pro-10217.php
