What’s the point of this argument even, like they wouldn’t have to abide by the licence of the software they’re using?
I’d love to see this happen. Suddenly every proprietary software license would be voided.

That argument is about whether any customer of a product can sue over a failure to follow a licence, whether the FSF can sue as a customer of Vizio’s or whether they have to be representing a rights holder for one of the licences that are being breached
It’s unusual for a third party to be able to sue, so it could go either way

How can you not modify something you bought? That this is even a question is insane.
Yep, don’t let them even convince you this is a question that’s allowed. Even allowing it to be framed like this is a win to them. When I buy something it’s mine. I can smash it with a hammer, I can fix it, I can modify it.
I appreciate it’s a lot of effort, but I’m surprised that no-one has reverse engineered access to the TVs anyway.
Should make it where it basically deletes all the crap and just lets the TV be a TV.
I’m in a furnished government apartment (no longer in a homeless shelter), and it comes with a Vizio TV. I can’t even use the fucking thing without creating an account. So it sits there doing nothing, because I refuse to even make a spam account setup.
